Two Sides is an initiative by companies from the Graphic Communication Value Chain including forestry, pulp, paper, inks and chemicals, pre press, press, finishing, publishing and printing. Membership spans Europe, the United States and Australia. Our common goal is to promote the responsible production and use of print and paper, and dispel common environmental misconceptions by providing users with verifiable information on why print and paper is an attractive, practical and sustainable communications medium.

A survey of UK consumers undertaken by Two Sides, May 2015

A new survey into the preferences of consumers for printed versus digital communications has been published today by ‘Two Sides’; the global initiative which addresses the misconceptions of paper use as a communications medium. The survey, which was commissioned by Two Sides and undertaken by international research company Toluna, sought the opinions and preferences of 500 consumers in the UK and 1,000 in the US on a number of issues relating to the switch from paper-based to digital media.

New research, commissioned by worldwide lobbying organisation ‘Two Sides’, has revealed that major global corporations are still using inaccurate and misleading environmental claims to encourage consumers to ‘go paperless’ and switch from paper-based to digital communication. This is despite legislation being introduced by the advertising standards authorities to protect the consumer from being misled.

The Welsh Conservative party responds to an open Letter from Two Sides challenging their policy consultation to tackle unwanted so-called “junk mail”, which they claim is harmful to the environment.

Already present in major European countries in addition to the United States, Australia and South Africa, this campaign now comes to Brazil. “By joining this campaign, we take part in the most successful global initiative for promoting the sustainability of printed communications. We will work resolutely in order to show that we carry out an activity which is essential to people’s lives and to the proper functioning of society. Not to mention how important our productive chain is in the generation of jobs, incomes, technologies and other added values”, declares Fabio Arruda Mortara, President of the Brazilian Graphic Industry Association (Abigraf) and the São Paulo State Printing Industry Union (Sindigraf-SP).
