SERPA 2010 Attracts Complete Spectrum of Print Community

More than 500 students, printers, print-buyers and marketing communication professionals have attended the second SERPA event in Helsinki, Finland. Run by FESPA member association, the Finnish Association of Screen and Special Printing, the free, two day exhibition and seminar programme was held at the city’s Marina Congress Centre.

More than 500 students, printers, print-buyers and marketing communication professionals have attended the second SERPA event in Helsinki, Finland. Run by FESPA member association, the Finnish Association of Screen and Special Printing, the free, two day exhibition and seminar programme was held at the city’s Marina Congress Centre.

Following the success of the first SERPA event in 2008, the exhibition sponsored by FESPA and Aalto University attracted a wide range of industry and communications professionals, as well as print service providers.

Exclusively focussing on applications, rather than equipment, no machines or printers were displayed during the event. Instead, the SERPA theme of ‘See, Feel, Touch’ encouraged visitors to attend demonstrations, discover innovative print samples and advertising opportunities and explore ground-breaking printing solutions.

Visitors to the show had the unique opportunity to meet representatives from the entire print value chain, providing them with the ideal vehicle to learn from and gain inspiration from other sectors of the industry.

During the event, a packed seminar programme featuring speakers including Andreas Skantze, Owner, Big Image Systems, Sweden who spoke on the topic, "Price is not an issue”. Other speakers included FESPA board member, Christian Duyckaerts, Owner of Print & Display, Belgium, who discussed, "Innovation in Instore & Outdoor Communication" and Professor Petri Parvinen from Aalto University, Finland, who spoke on "Different business activity models and selling processes", amongst others.

“We were delighted at the popularity of this year’s SERPA event. The concept of the show is innovative in itself, with no machinery on display. It was very well received and we’ve had positive feedback,” says Regina Aas, Managing Director of SERPA. “With an entire cross-section of the graphic arts spectrum present, SERPA can be considered a print event distinct from any other in Europe at the moment.”
