Drupa is nearly over, and what a two weeks it has been. Many of us from AD have been on site in Messe Duesseldorf for a large part of that time, supporting our clients or catching up with old and new friends alike for productive business meetings. Many a glass of wine (or G&T if you’re me!) has been drunk, and not a lot of sleep has been had, but all in all we’re all leaving the show with positive memories.
There was a lot of hype before drupa opened its doors on May 3rd about what the show would be remembered for, and as predicted B2 sheetfed inkjet is right up there. But as well as this there have been numerous other technologies and applications discussed. Large format print is marching into the commercial print world with a vengeance, and cloud based systems were also prevalent. And one particular show proved a sell out every day 🙂
But when I think about drupa 2012, I think about the encouraging stories I heard or experienced firsthand, of printers who want the industry to flourish and who are looking at news ways of making sure their businesses move into the future. Being able to assess the products and technologies available on the market under one roof (albeit 18 halls!) over a two week period enables them to determine which supplier they believe can help them the most.
As we jet off home to every corner of the World, it’s time to rest our weary feet and feel proud to be part of an industry that can adapt in the face of hardship, put on a great show, and prove that it is moving with the times.
