TL;DR:
FESPA 2026 showcased a confident, fast-evolving print industry, where production-ready innovation, scalable personalisation, smarter workflows and sustainability are driving real commercial opportunity across print, packaging, textile and signage.
DISCUSSING THE HOT TOPICS OF FESPA 2026
This year, from 19-22 May 2026, FESPA 2026 took place at the Gran Via, Fira Barcelona – the first time the organisation’s flagship exhibition had taken place in Spain since 2012.
Despite being an annual event – which is much looked forward to by exhibitors, visitors and press alike – this year, it felt different. In the best way.
Integrated events
For the first time, FESPA’s flagship global exhibition comprised of an impressive six co-located events (instead of the usual three): FESPA Global Print Expo, European Sign Expo, Personalisation Experience, WrapFest and the newly introduced Textile and Corrugated.
This versatile co-located approach reflects the increasingly overlapping areas of the print, signage, packaging and textile sectors. In ‘real life’, this translates to businesses expanding into adjacent markets as they seek new revenue streams.
In total, FESPA 2026 showcased solutions from over 550 exhibitors from more than 40 countries, and this attracted a large international audience that included: print providers, manufacturers and brand owners.
Ready-for-production innovation
There was a noticeable emphasis from exhibitors this year, on practical, production-ready solutions. Throughout the halls, they showcased technologies that are designed to deliver on functionality, productivity, efficiency and ultimately, immediate value.
In addition, demonstrations on-stand showed visitors how these technologies can be implemented directly into existing production lines. Examples of ‘live’ tech being showcased, included: hybrid and roll-to-roll printers, dye-sublimation textile systems, DTF and DTG printing and high-performance large-format printers.
Personalisation drives textile and packaging
Advances in software-driven workflows and variable data printing are making it more feasible, faster and economically viable to produce customised products efficiently at scale. This creates opportunities in packaging, promotional goods and e-commerce – and these were explored at the show.
Personalised products were printed on stands, much to visitors’ delight, including: bags, magnets, cookies, stickers, mugs and branded merchandise.
In addition, innovations in dye-sublimation and soft signage highlighted how print is being used for a wealth of applications in fashion, interior décor and retail.
Intelligent workflows
Another noticeable trend was how often the conversation came back to workflow, automation and efficiency.
Exhibitors discussed and demonstrated real examples of how print businesses can connect different parts of their production processes. They highlighted that investment in these solutions would result in streamlined production, reduced manual intervention and improved efficiency.
Low-impact innovation and insights
Throughout the halls, exhibitors highlighted solutions designed to reduce energy consumption, minimise waste and improve efficiency – which aligns with the speciality print sector’s wider goal of reducing its environmental impact.
Technology aside, the challenges of navigating sustainability regulations and changing customer expectations were discussed in FESPA 2026’s three conference programmes: the FESPA Conference, the Corrugated Conference and the WrapTalks programme. Speakers shared data, insights and examples of how businesses are adapting their product designs, as well streamlining their operations, to lower their impact in a cost-effective way.
A confident, forward-looking industry
FESPA 2026 in Barcelona radiated confidence (and outside the Fira Barcelona: sunshine). From production-ready innovations to meaningful discussions around insights and efficiency, exhibitors and visitors alike explored technologies and trends that are driving the future of print.
