Founded in 1993, Gonzo Design, based in Hirzenhain, Germany, is a specialist in end-to-end advertising, textile printing, digital printing, signage and vehicle lettering. The company has recently invested in Fujifilm’s Acuity Triton, featuring AQUAFUZE water-based UV ink technology, which has resulted in improved print quality, better application flexibility across its production, and an improvement in the working environment in terms of air quality.

Before the investment, Gonzo Design was producing on a Fujifilm Vybrant solvent UV printer, which was reaching the end of its life. Gonzo Design began its search for an energy-saving printer that could print the same quality as the Vybrant without using solvent inks. The company also owns a Fujifilm Acuity Prime, which it uses to print DTF stickers for super small logo applications on different materials.

Following a live demonstration at Fujifilm Europe’s HQ in Ratingen, Gonzo Design decided to invest in the Acuity Triton, which was installed in October 2025.

Jan Henrich, Production Manager at Gonzo Design, comments: “It was a few years ago when a Fujifilm representative came to visit us and informed us about a new generation of water-based UV ink that was in early-stage research.  When we were later given the opportunity to see the Acuity Triton and AQUAFUZE ink in action at a live demonstration, it was clear this was a technology worth investing in.

“One of the key drivers behind the investment was the improvement it made to the working environment. The Acuity Triton has drastically improved air quality in the production area, removing odours that the team were previously experiencing with its eco-solvent printer.”

Many of Gonzo Design’s customers have been in partnership with them since the company’s early years and expect high quality, reliability, consistency, efficiency and expertise.

Mr Henrich comments: ”Printing vehicle wrap vinyl on our old system often caused a problem as the colour was broken by the poor stretching performance. With the Acuity Triton, we no longer have this issue, benefiting our production of vehicle wraps. Calendared vinyl can now also be printed without heat-related shrinking issues.”

Addressing these challenges with the Acuity Triton has streamlined production and improved the overall operation of the business. The new machine is being used primarily for self-adhesive films and banners for outdoor and indoor applications, with plans also to use it for transparent decorative materials, fabrics and wallpapers for indoor decorations.

“With the Acuity Triton, we can replace latex and solvent printers, producing the same applications more efficiently and with better quality,” adds Mr Henrich.

The printer also supports instant finishing as well as promoting low energy curing, helping Gonzo Design meet tight production schedules more efficiently.

Mr Henrich comments: “We have a long-standing relationship with Fujifilm and have great trust in their knowledge and expertise. Since the deal was finalised in Ratingen after the live demonstration, Fujifilm has been incredibly supportive, which is why we’ve continued to work with them over the years.”

Chelsea Carter, Head of Wide Format Marketing at Fujifilm comments: “Gonzo Design is a great example of a print service provider looking to improve both production performance and their working environment. With Fujifilm’s Acuity Triton and AQUAFUZE ink technology, they have maintained high print quality while expanding their application portfolio, demonstrating exactly why this technology was developed for modern sign and display production.”
